Since 1976 the Korean Museum Association has been devoted to the development of museums and preservation of cultural heritage in Korea. Recently, the museum society in Korea has grown greatly in numbers and quality. Most importantly, the National Museum of Korea which reopened October 28th 2005 is the great pride of Korean people with its spectacular architecture and exhibits in innovative system. There are more than five hundreds of museums which exhibit diverse collections and host cultural activities all over Korea.
We are very proud of the ICOM 2004 Seoul, because it was a wonderful gathering of museum specialists from the World and it brought us a superb opportunity to share Korean traditional and contemporary culture. It was a special occasion for us to recognize again museums’ roles in understanding other cultures and other people.
Many new museums open every year in Korea and many special exhibitions of international and local interests are being held in museums. We surely believe museum culture in Korea is getting richer and more diverse.
We wish very much you will find exciting information of Korean museums and culture through our website and enjoy yourself during your visit.

Thank you!
